Yesterday was Jun 9th, so after the sun had dropped below the tree line, we all trooped outside, braved the mosquitoes and planted our white bird of paradise. It isn't blooming right now, but I hope it will sometime this summer.
Reagan had the most fun. She just loves playing in the dirt. She tried to carry the plant to Daddy, and then she thought that the best way to help was to take handfu
ls of dirt and fill in the hole.
She has a love hate relationship with bugs right now. She can't resist looking at them, but at the same time she's afraid they will bite her.
Georgie just sat back and watched. Then she decided to fuss a l
ittle bit, so mommy didn't get to be in any of the pictures.
Please note that it is June and the grass is still green and so are the trees. Texas is not a barren windswept landscape with tumbleweed being blown across the streets.
We had been told that the soil here was very clay ridden, so we expected it to take a good half hour to dig the hole for the bird of paradise. But the soil was very loose and looks very nutritious. It only took us about ten minutes to get everything ready and planted. So, once again, we've been blessed by our Father in Heaven., and perhaps we will try to have a vegetable garden next year...
